An illustrious neighbourhood

The Las Letras district, also known as the Literary district or the Muses district, owes its name to the literary activity carried out in it throughout the Sixteenth and Seventeenth centuries. Many of the great writers of the Spanish Golden Age lived in this neighbourhood, such as Cervantes, Quevedo, Góngora and Lope de Vega among others. Today, we can read some of their most famous quotes engraved on the paving stones in some streets.
